PESHAWAR - Federal Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi formally inaugurated the Women Business Development Centre (WBDC) at Saidu Sharif, district Swat on Monday.

Those present on the occasion were included Swat Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Haji Noor Mohammad, Malakand Division Commissioner Zaheerul Islam, Smeda CEO Sher Ayub Khan, Smeda General Manager Out-Reach (GMOR) Javed Iqbal Khattak and others.

In his detailed presentation, the Smeda GMOR highlighted the objectives and achievements of the centre. WBDC Swat was a PSDP funded project under the Ministries of Industries and Production (MoIP) which ws executed by Smeda. The total cost of the project is Rs35.01 million.

The purpose and objectives of the centre are the provision of all encompassing facility for office space, product showcasing, exhibition, sale, trainings, conducive business environment for women owned businesses in the form of business incubation centre and capacity building of women entrepreneurs.

The centre will also provide specialised services in the field of marketing, finance, and management and employment generation by supporting new business start-ups, business development services for existing business and promotion of the entrepreneurial culture amongst women in Swat.
