Rawalpindi - The Women Resource Centre (WRRC) on Thursday organised a breast cancer awareness session with the collaboration of Shifa International Hospital at Fatima Jinnah Women University.

The aim of the session was to raise awareness among the students about the disease. While addressing the session, Dr Uzma Qasim (Consultant Oncologist) said that all women – over the age of 20-39 year – should get themselves checked by the doctor for a clinical breast examination and a mammogram after every three years. She also focused on the treatment options that are available for breast cancer. She elaborated the surgical options for removing a breast tumour and role of chemotherapy and radiation in eradicating cancerous cells.

While concluding the session Dr Uzma advised the audience to support the breast cancer patients and make them feel positive during their difficult time.

 A large number of students, staff and faculty member attend this session. At the end of the session, Prof Dr Naheed Zia Khan, Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, FJWU presented a souvenir to the spokesperson Dr Uzma Qasim (Consultant Oncologist) and hoped that this session increased the awareness for breast cancer.
