COAS confirms death sentences to 14 terrorists

Islamabad - Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday confirmed death sentences awarded to fourteen hardcore terrorists.

They were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism including attacking Armed Forces/ Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, killing of innocent civilians and destruction of educational institutions. They also attacked and destroyed Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation Hotel Malam Jabba, Swat.

On the whole, they were involved in killing of 22 persons including 3 civilians, 19 Security Forces personnel and injuring 23 others. Arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession. These convicts were tried by special military courts. Besides, eight convicts have also been awarded imprisonment.

According a statement issued by the ISPR the terrorists who have been convicted included  Rehman Ali son of Hassan Ghani, Rehmat Ali son of Sher Malik , Saif ur Rehman son of Akbar Aman 4, Fazal Mabood son of Fazal Rabi, Irshad Ahmed son of Mumtaz6, Afreen son of Naseem, Ahmad Hussain son of Qari Muhammad Zarif, Bacha Rehman son of Masoom Jan, Muhammad Majeed Khan son of Sanoubar,  Muhammad Aqil son of Nawab Ali, Saif Ullah son of Muhammad Rafique,  Muhammad Sher Ali Khan son of Sher Afzal Khan, Muhammad Tariq son of Ghulam Badshah and Ali Rehman son of Fazal Wahid.

According to details, convicts Rehman Ali son of Hassan Ghani, Rehmat Ali son of Sher Malik, Saif ur Rehman son of Akbar Aman and Fazal Mabood son of Fazal Rabi were members of proscribed organisation.

They were involved in destruction of an educational institution and attacking Armed Forces/Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Muhammad Hanif along with 7 soldiers, a civilian and injuries to 12 others. They were also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives. These convicts confessed their offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. They were awarded death sentence.

Convict Irshad Ahmed son of  Mumtaz was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Sepoy Raza Khan.

He was also involved in destruction of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Hotel Malam Jabba, Swat. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Afreen son of Naseem was a member of proscribed organisation. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of 5 soldiers and injuries to 7 others. He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Ahmad Hussain son of Qari Muhammad Zarif was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Hussain Faraz along with 4 officials and injuries to 5 others.

He was also found in possession of fire-arms. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Bacha Rehman son of Masoom Jan was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Havildar Muhammad Ilyas alongwith 4 soldiers and injuries to 6 others.

He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Muhammad Majeed Khan son of Sanoubar was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in killing of innocent civilians and attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Sepoy Asif Mehmood and injuries to an officer along with 2 soldiers.

He was also involved in destruction of Government Primary School Zangi, Swat and Pakistan Telecommunication Limited Exchange Tower. Moreover, he was found in possession of explosives as well. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Muhammad Aqil son of Nawab Ali was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Assistant Sub Inspector Noor Zaman along with 4 officials and injuries to 5 others.

He was also found in possession of fire-arms. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Saif Ullah son of Muhammad Rafique was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in destruction of Government Primary School Langar (Swat) and attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Naik Ghulam Hassan, Sepoy Shoukat Ali and injuries to 2 other soldiers.

He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Muhammad Sher Ali Khan son of Sher Afzal Khan was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Sepoy Raza Khan. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Convict Muhammad Tariq son of Ghulam Badshah was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Naik Muhammad Suleman and injuries to another soldier. The convict confessed his offence before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence and

Convict Ali Rehman son of Fazal Wahid was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Sepoy Shoukat Ali and injuries to another soldier. The convict confessed his offence before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
