LAHORE- The Government of Pakistan, Guard Agricultural Research and Services Pvt Limited and its JV partner Biocentury Transegene (China) Company Limited, are set to sign an agreement for cotton research and development, in what is essentially the first agreement of its kind between the public and private sectors. The tripartite agreement would be the catalyst for furthering the much desired goal of achieving ever greater public private sector partnership, not only in agriculture but other vitally important fields of national endeavour and to achieve self sufficiency through transfer of technology to boost and realise Pakistans productive potential. According to a Press release issued on Saturday, the agreement would be signed by the end of this month in Multan between the PCCC (Pakistan Central Cotton Committee), the governments premier research and development institute on cotton, Guard Agriculture, and Biocentury Transgene, China.
