These days, I am reading the biography of Baba Guru Nanak, founder of the Sikh religion. The epitome of his message are two things he proposed for his followers; number one, he said, Never trust a karaar (Hindu). Number two, he said Never a Khalsa (Sikh) shall beg. I have travelled round the world and seen many countries having a sizeable Sikh community. But I have never seen a Sikh beggar anywhere. As our leadership is not a follower of Baba Guru Nanak, their actions too are totally opposed to Baba Jis preachings. Our leadership is vigorously trying for friendship with Hindus and is also going door to door begging for money. People fully know where this money will go once it is obtained at the cost of our honour, dignity and self-respect. Our Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, had also forbidden begging but perhaps our leadership is neither Muslim nor Sikh. -DILDAR PERVEZ ANSARI, Multan, September 26.
