LAHORE Jamaat-e-Islami has postponed its national conference on security and the Karachi situation scheduled to be held tomorrow (Wednesday) in view of the APC being convened by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. In a statement issued here on Monday, JI Secretary General and coordinator of the National Conference said that Prime Minister Gilani had talked to the JI chief on telephone and requested him to attend the APC to be held on September 29 to discuss the US threats and work out a unite strategy to meet the challenge. He said the JI chief has decided to postpone the conference so that the political leadership could gather on one platform and evolve a unified line of action against the US threats and the likely fall out. Liaquat Baloch said that the allegations of the US administration and armed forces against Pakistans security institutions and its threats of direct attacks had caused serious concerns and it was time that the leadership sat together and prepare the nation for any eventuality. He said the JI welcomed the APC but hoped that it would be result oriented and its decisions or resolutions did not meet the fate of earlier APCs or the Parliaments joint sittings.
