OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Member Punjab Assembly, Kh. Imran Nazir has said that the Punjab government has adopted a comprehensive strategy for elimination of dengue mosquito and its larva and due to active participation of masses, there will be less than 5 percent of this virus during next year. She said that the fogging will be carried out in December this year for eradication of dengue mosquito. He said that the government employees and public representatives have now become social workers. He expressed these views while talking to media during grand operation against dengue in Tyres Market near Nolakha Police Station, here on Monday. Mosquito and larva in large number were found in the tyre shops which were destroyed through chemical spray. Commissioner Lahore Division Jawad Rafique Malik, Secretary Environment, officers of WASA, Solid Waste and Labour departments and representatives of tyres association were also present on the occasion. Kh. Imran Nazir said that on the direction of chief minister Punjab, cleanliness campaign has been started and every individual of the society will have to work jointly against this virus. He appreciated the efforts of Punjab government and a strategy has been evolved on permanent basis in the light of the recommendations of Sri Lankan and Pakistani experts. Commissioner Lahore Division said that spray will be carried out after draining out the water from tyres so that larva could be eliminated. He directed the owners of tyres shops to carryout spray on the tyres and covered them within 48 hours. He said that the shops violating these instructions would be sealed. He hoped that due to the collective efforts of public representatives, departments and citizens, this virus could soon be controlled. MNA Mian Marghub Ahmad visited Jhugian Nagra and informed the people about preventive measures of dengue virus by visiting door to door. He asked the people to drain out the water. He asked the people not to throw the water of houses on the roads. Taking notice of stagnant water in the streets and roads, he directed the union council officials to immediately drain out stagnant water and remove the waste. On this occasion, he got sprayed various shops and houses. MNA and Chairman Emergency Response Committee Gulberg Town Sardar Ayaz Sadiq conducted spray and fogging at Pir Ghazi Road Icchra and hoped that this menace could be controlled through public participation. Meanwhile MPA Ejaz Ahmad Khan distributed pamphlets among the citizens regarding preventive measures in main boulevard Allama Iqbal Town Chowk. He visited various shops and houses and got carried out fogging in various shops.
