Gen Raheel warns India against LoC provocation

Pakistan test-fires Hatf IX ballistic missile

ISLAMABAD - Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Friday warned India that any provocation along the Line of Control (LoC) would be responded effectively.
According to a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited troops deployed in forward localities along the Line of Control near Jhelum.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) was briefed by local commanders about the prevailing security situation along the Line of Control.
While interacting with the troops, the COAS appreciated their state of morale and operational preparedness on front line. He expressed complete satisfaction over the state of readiness and vigil being maintained by troops.
He paid rich tribute to the officers and men of Pakistan Army along the Line of Control on their supreme sacrifices and determination in the defence of country. "The entire nation felt proud of the soldiers deployed in defence of the motherland," he said.
Earlier on his arrival, the COAS was received by Lt Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, Corps Commander Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, Pakistan on Friday successfully test fired Short Range Multi Tube Ballistic Missile Hatf IX (NASR).
According to the statement released by Inter Services Public Relations, the test fire was conducted with successive launches of 4 missiles from a state of the art Multi Tube Launcher with Salvo Mode.
NASR, with a range of 60 km and in-flight manoeuvre capability is a quick response system, with shoot and scoot attributes. It contributes to the full spectrum deterrence against the prevailing threat spectrum.
The flight test was witnessed by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Rashad Mahmood, Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, Lieutenant General Obaidullah Khan, Chairman NESCOM, Muhammad Irfan Burney, senior officers from the strategic forces and scientists and engineers of strategic organisations.
Addressing the participants at the launch area, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Rashad Mahmood, congratulated the scientists and engineers on achieving yet another milestone towards Pakistan's deterrence capability.
He appreciated the professional attributes of all concerned which made possible the successful launch of weapon system.
He showed his full confidence over the Strategic Command and Control System and the Pakistan Armed Forces capability to safeguard security of the motherland against any aggression.
The successful test launch has also been warmly appreciated by the President and Prime Minister who congratulated the participating troops, the scientists and engineers on their outstanding achievement.
