SHEIKHUPURA (APP) - Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Monday made an unannounced visit to a wheat procurement centre here in Farooqabad. He gave a patient hearing to the problems of growers who apprised him that they were facing acute shortage of gunny bags and alleged that the staff of food department had sold the bags to the commission agents. Taking notice of the complaints, Shahbaz Sharif directed the officers of food department to take action against the delinquent staff and strongly directed that the bags should be recovered from the commission agents to be distributed among the growers. On the request of local MNAs Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, and Mian Javed Latif, Chief Minister Punjab announced to establish a degree college and a railways under pass. Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that all godowns of food departments would be shifted from populated areas of the city. He said that PML-N government is providing relief to common man and farmers to raise their living standard. He re-affirmed Punjab Govts firm resolve to procure every grain of wheat from the farmers, at the rate of Rs 950 per 40 kg. Punjab Food Secretary Irfan Elahi earlier suspended district food controller Sheikhupura, Muhammad Asif Khan on the charge of negligence.
