LAHORE - The former Chairman of Pakistan Poultry Association and former LCCI Senior Vice President Abdul Basit has urged the Lahore Expo Center authorities to curtail the rates of booking of Exhibition halls and bring them at par with the rates being charged by the Karachi Expo Center. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the LCCI former SVP said that the difference in the booking rates would in no way be encouraging the business community rather it would discourage them for the utilisation of this world class facility. He said that when the authorities at Karachi Expo Center were charging Rs 1,60,000 for booking of 2675 Sq Mtrs, the authorities at the Lahore Expo Center are charging Rs 12,00,000 for the booking of exhibition area of 2250 sq Mtrs. The LCCI former Senior Vice President said that the Expo Center at Lahore was constructed as a facility to the business community so that they could be able to showcase their products to the foreign buyers but it seemed that some elements in the government circles were quite active to fail all the government efforts aimed at economic well being of the country. He said that the business community was already facing multiple challenges in the shape of acute electricity, gas shortages, law and order situation and was looking towards those who are sitting at the helm of affairs for some relief package. But unfortunately the businesses that have the potential to go global by attracting foreign buyers were being denied proper facilities. Abdul Basit also appealed to the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif to look into the matter and issues necessary directions to this regard.
