LAHORE - Information Secretary Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Omar Sarfraz Cheema has welcomed regional parties in the mainstream political arena and described such initiatives as a good omen for the country. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said the status of PPP coalition partner was not that of opposition party. Omar Cheema said that the coalition partners could not befool the nation by running with the hare and hunting with the hounds; no amount of long-winded oratory could justify them having their cake and eating it too. He said if at all they have good of the people in mind and were willing to serve the nation diligently, they should immediately sever their ties with the incumbent government and join the masses waging a struggle for their rights. He said with the addition of the regional parties to the spectrum of national politics, the electorate shall be richer for choice and would be enabled to break the stranglehold of a select clique of politicians, who have become the arbiters of national fortunes through sheer money and power. These pseudo democratic leaders have absolutely no conception of the plight of the sufferings of masses and all they were concerned was lining up their pockets and keeping their parties hostage to their whim and caprice. He further said all political parties should be allowed to work in every nook and corner of Pakistan and any restrictions or embargoes in this regard would be utterly undemocratic.
