LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday left for a three-day private visit to London. MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Provincial Minister for Agriculture Ahmed Ali Aulakh and high-ranking officers saw him off at the Lahore Airport. Talking to journalists before his departure, the Chief Minister described media reports about clash between institutions baseless and untrue. He said the nation and the Armed Forces were lucky for having a pro-democracy and professional leader of a high calibre as Army Chief, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and he was certain that in his presence, the prospect of involvement of any agency in such a conspiracy was impossible. In reply to a question regarding the MQM convention in Punjab, the CM said Pakistan was for all, and everyone was allowed to hold political activities in the country, which was the beauty of democracy. He said though he would be on a personal tour, he would look into projects of power generation from coal in the UK as Britain had gained enough expertise in generating power from coal. To another question, the CM said a meeting with MQM leader Altaf Hussain was not part of his visit.
