LAHORE-Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mir Hazar Khan Bajrani on Tuesday inaugurated the Furniture Pakistan (Head Office), Common Facility Training and Manufacturing Center (Chiniot) and Wood Seasoning Solar Kilns at a local hotel. Talking on the inaugural session of the 'fexpo held at a local hotel, the minister added that first time in Pakistan the skills of furniture of country have been exhibited in a local hotel where the art of artisans was shown in form of a pool. He said that Pakistan is independent in the industry of furniture and there is a dire need of promoting and exporting the furniture industry. The minister claimed that by exporting the furniture industry soon the PIDC would be generating the foreign exchange of one billion rupees initially within a year, adding PIDC should provide facilitation and encouraging support to the artisans of Pakistan who could enlighten the name of country worldwide. He added that government would provide support to the artisans of furniture and there would be the opportunities of employments through the strong establishing of the furniture industry. He urged the promotion of furniture industry even in far-flung areas of the country, adding such exhibitions would be held countrywide and next furniture exhibition would also be held in Karachi. Furniture Industry Pakistan chief executive officer Dr Shahzad Ansar said that 'furniture Pakistan was a dream that had been materialised at its first stage in form of 'fexpo, saying the machinery related to furniture had been installed at Peshawar and Chiniot initially and about 75 machines (solar kilns) had been installed to dry the wet wood and stipends of 4000 rupees were being provided to the boys busy in equipping themselves with the art of furniture. He added Furniture Pakistan Industrys directors worked hard in research work related to the furniture within in the country and out of country to promote and establish the furniture industry in Pakistan in the real meanings so that talent of country could be benefited fully. He added that PIDC aimed at developing furniture industry and cottage industry at local and foreign levels besides manufacturing quality furniture for the export purposes also, he added.
