Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti, Provincial president Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) and grandson of late Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti Saturday surrendered himself to police for arrest along with companions. The arrest warrants of the leader JWP were issued after the Supreme Court of Pakistan cancelled his bail on April 7, 2012. Earlier his arrest, Shahzain Bugti talking to media said, “We did not do any crime”, he claimed, “All cases especially arms recovery case, which are made against us are baseless and have no legal grounds”. He said that on the one side the government is making tall claims to withdraw all the cases against Baloch leaders, on the other hand false and baseless cases have been making against them. Such kind of wrong initiatives from the government side have been creating an environment of mistrust in Balochistan, as it is presenting the non-seriousness of the rulers to bring peace in the province, he added. Shahzain Bugti rejected all the tall claims of the rulers and expressed his grave concern over the baseless cases of Baloch leaders. He claimed that intelligence agencies kidnapped his counsellor Advocate Mukesh Kohli so that no one can follow my petition in arms recovery case. However, “We would continue our struggle for our rights,” adding he said, “We respect and honour the decisions of the court, even though we would follow up our cases to proof ourselves innocent in false cases.” To a question regarding talks with Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Zehri, Shahzain Bugti confirmed that no talks have been held with the Home Minister. Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Zehri confirmed regarding the arrest of Shahzain Bugti and his companions from his residence.
Earlier, he was arrested by the Frontier Corps (FC) at Bolaili Check-post when he was returning to Quetta from Chaman in Dec 2010. A huge cache of arms was recovered from his convoy. However, the Balochistan High Court on Jan, 17, 2011 had released on bail. He further said that now the Supreme Court of Pakistan cancelled his bail on April 7, 2012 in arms recovery case and issued his arrest warrants. To a question about the involvement of three provincial ministers in kidnapping cases and their arrest, Zehri said, “I do not want to give any comment on this case,” adding he said that as the case is in court against them.
