CHAMAN  - Unknown men kidnapped a doctor, Mubashir Ahsan, on Saturday morning.

According to Levies sources, Dr Mubashir Ahsan, a surgeon at the Chaman Civil Hospital, left the house for morning walk when unknown men kidnapped him. Dr Ahsan resisted but the kidnappers took him in a vehicle.

The security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation but the abductors managed escape. Doctors across the district held protests and boycotted all state-run hospitals against the kidnapping.

Chaman Civil Hospital MS Dr Akhtar said that attempts had been made in the past to abduct doctors. He said that Dr Ahsan's family got a call from abductors, who threatened to kill him. Separately, abducted former Balochistan prison minister, Sultan Tareen was recovered from the custody of kidnappers in Qilla Abdullah.

According to the family sources, Sultan Tareen was rescued by the joint efforts of tribal elders and local administration and he reached his home in Harnai after being release.

The former minister was kidnapped by some unidentified gunmen from Kachlak area last month when he was going to Pishin from Quetta. The sources said the minister was released by kidnappers after payment of ransom. However, Sultan Tareen's brother and the administration have denied the claim.
