631 PAF-KIET grads get degrees

KARACHI - The 11th convocation ceremony of Pakistan Air Force – Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology was held on Saturday evening at the Convention Centre, PAF Museum, PAF Base Karachi.
A total of 631 graduates were conferred degrees in disciplines of Management Sciences, Computer Sciences and Engineering. Degrees awarded by the College of Management Sciences, includes 84 in BBA and 17 in BS-AF, 280 in MBA and 10 in MS. The College of Computing & Information Sciences awarded degrees, 32 in BSCS, 10 in BS-ERP, 27 in MCS and MBA-MIS, 16 in MS-CS and 29 degrees awarded to BCA students. 124 degrees were awarded to BE Electronics students of College of Engineering.
Governor of Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan was the Chief Guest also awarded Gold and Silver Medals to distinguished students. The Chief Guest emphasised the importance of higher education, research and development for progress of the country. Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff was the guest of honor.
Addressing the PAF KIET’ Convocation, Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan said, “I assure you that the Nation stands behind its Armed forces like solid rock in all their endeavours to defend our Motherland.”
In his welcome address, President of the Institute, Air Vice Marshal (R) Tubrez Asif praised efforts of students and faculty while emphasised on the role of education. He thanked the chief guest for his gracious presence.
Earlier, Governor Sindh while addressing as chief guest in the launching of cleanliness drive of Shahrahe-Faisal held at the Frere Hall, said that better results could not be achieved in public service without coordination between different organisations. He said that coordination was needed most for working on various uplift projects in Karachi.
Governor Sindh said besides improving the law and order conditions, development works were also being carried out in the city.
Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui and Deputy Commissioner South Mustafa Jamal Qazi also spoke on this occasion whereas the program was attended by the Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui, deputy commissioners of different districts, administrators, various departmental heads and a good number of prominent citizens.
Talking to the media men Governor Sindh said that PPP and MQM coalition was the need of the hour and both parties should work for progress and development of the Sindh province.
Talking about the assassination attack on the journalist Hamid Mir, he said that it was regrettable that a media group targeted armed forces agency just after the attack on Hamid. He said that legal action would be taken against media groups for the media trial of armed forces. He said that the investigation of the Hamid Mir attack was under way and hopefully the culprits involved in the attack will be arrested soon.
