ISLAMABAD - The government has allocated Rs 1775.205 million for various ongoing and new schemes of Industries and Production Division under the PSDP 2018-19. Out of this, Rs 1424.816 million have been allocated for the ongoing schemes while Rs350.389 million have been proposed for new schemes.

In ongoing schemes, Rs 140.320 million have been allocated for Business Development Centre for Women at various locations, while for the development of marble and granite sector Rs350 million have been earmarked.

This project was approved from ECNEC in 2007 with an estimated cost of Rs 2276.80 million. Till June 30 of this year, the total expenditure on the project was Rs 1830 million, while Rs 446.850 million was throw forward.

As much as Rs 19.940 million have been proposed for the Full Dehydration Unit Swat while Rs 250 million have been allocated for the Fruits, Vegetables And Condiments Processing Centre, district Naushehroferoz, Sindh.

In ongoing projects category, Rs 15.654 million have been proposed for Hyderabad Engineering Support Centre, while for Light Upgradation Centre for SME in Balochistan (LEUC) Hub, Lasbela Rs 20.182 million have been earmarked.

For National Business Development Programe for SMEs, Rs 400 million have been proposed, while Rs 28.720 million have been set aside for Peshawar Light Engineering Centre KP. Rs.200 million have been proposed for the Product Development Centre for composite based sports goods, Sialkot.

In the new schemes, Rs 50.389 million have been proposed for dates processing plants at various locations including Panjgur, Khairpur, and Dhakki, while Rs 150 million have been marked for the development of National Productivity Institute.

Industrial designing and automation centres in Punjab, KP, Sindh and Baluchistan will get Rs 50 million, while Rs50 million have been allocated for the infrastructure development of Gwadar Export Zone. Rs50 million have been proposed for upgradation of PMTF facilities, Karachi. The estimated cost of the development of Gwadar Export Processing Zone is Rs 5400.367 million. New schemes have yet to get approval.

Rs 943m set aside for Petroleum Division schemes

The federal government has allocated Rs 943.175 million in PSDP of FY2018-19 for the nine new and ongoing schemes of Petroleum Division. There are four new unapproved projects in the PSDP and four ongoing projects.

The four unapproved schemes have been incorporated in the PSDP with the allocation of Rs 480 million. The projects include expansion and upgradation of Pakistan Petroleum Corehouse (PETCORE) for its sustainable operations to facilitate oil & gas exploration research in Pakistan Rs 100 million, strengthening and upgradation of Karachi Laboratories Complex (KLC) at HDIP Operations Office, Karachi Rs 220 million, geological mapping of 50 Topsheets out of 354 unmapped Topsheets of Outcroo area of Balochistan Rs 10 million, and upgradation of HDIP’s POL testing facilities at Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta and ISO certification of petroleum testing laboratory at Islamabad Rs 50 million.

The allocations for the ongoing projects are Rs 463.175 million which include Rs 13.736 million for appraisal of newly discovered coal resources of Badin Coal Field and its adjoining areas of southern Sindh, Rs 14.609 million for the exploration and evaluation of metallic minerals in Uthal and Bela areas, district Lasbella, Balochistan, and Rs 18.295 million for exploration and evaluation of coal in Nosham and Bahlol areas, Balochistan.

Rs505m for 9 new projects of Food Security, Research Div

The government has proposed Rs 505 million for nine new projects of National Food Security and Research Division for the next year. The total proposed budget for National Food and Security for 2018-19 is Rs 1808.073 million, with Rs 1303 million to be spent on ongoing schemes.

For the agriculture information portal Rs 30 million have been marked. Rs 127 million have been allocated for the better cotton imitative for sustainable cotton production in Pakistan while Rs 100 million have been proposed for the commercialisation of the tissue culture technology in the country.

To increase number of yaks at high altitudes of Gilgit Baltistan region, Rs 15 million have been proposed, while Rs 10 million have been allocated for the ECO Water Institute project.

For ensuring supply of good quality milk in Islamabad, Rs 48 million have been allocated, while Rs 50 million have been allocated for the establishment of service centres for fish farming clusters.

In ongoing schemes, Rs 36.446 million have been allocated for the establishment of animal quarantine phase-2 at Gwadar and Rs 100 million have been allocated for the national pesticide residue monitoring system in country. For the promotion of olive cultivation on commercial scale, Rs475 million have been earmarked, while Rs100 million each have been proposed for the foot and mouth disease project and strengthening of agriculture and livestock research centre Umerkot, Sindh. For upgradation of Arid Zone Research Institutes of Seakach, Wana, Southwaziristan, Miranshah Tank and Matora, Lakki Marwat, Rs254.743 million have been allocated.

Industries, production  division gets Rs1.7b

APP: The government has set aside Rs1.775 billion for various ongoing and new schemes of the Industries and Production Division under the PSDP 2018-19.

The amount includes Rs 1.424 billion for nine ongoing schemes and Rs 350 million for five new projects.
