MULTAN - The district administration vacated state land measuring 33 kanal from 'Qabza mafia' and nabbed 10 illegal occupants after several hour-long operation, the other day.

As detaile the sudden operation started at 3:00am under the leadership of DCO Zahid Akhtar Zaman accompanied by a heavy contingents of police during the course, the police arrested 10 illegal occupants and recovered arms, stolen goods and other items from the spot after a 15 hours operation.

The police led by SSP (Operations) Goher Nafees cordoned off the surroundings of Wilayat Hussain Islamia College, blocked Masoom Shah Road and started operation.

The said land was under illegal occupation of Qabza Mafia since long and despite orders by the former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif but it could not be vacated as the occupants enjoyed alleged backing by some political elements.

Sources disclosed that the police also recovered over 100 gas meters, two electricity transformers, one Kalashnikov, six pistols, 10 fridges and scores of electricity meters from makeshift junkyard set up on the land by the grabbers.
