Knackered locomotive leaves passengers stranded for 12-hour

MULTAN - The passengers went rowdy and suspended rail traffic for over three hours when Pakistan Railway administration failed to provide alternate engine for Hazara Express that broke down at Multan Railway Station here on Monday. The protesters blocked rail track and stopped Jaffar Express on which Railway Police intervened and removed them from the track after carrying out a brutal baton charge, leaving many injured.
Railway sources said that the engine of Hazara Express went out of order as a result of which the train stopped at Multan Railway Station for over 12 hours. Despite repeated requests from the passengers, the railway officials did not make any alternate arrangements on which they got furious and started protest. Later on, the trains were sent under police escort.
INTERMEDIATE RESULTS ON SEP 8: The result of Intermediate annual examination, 2012 held by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) is likely to take place on September 8. The BISE Multan has asked all such candidates, who received any kind of objection on their admission forms, to get removed the objections till August 30 otherwise their results will not be issued.
Similarly, the result will be given in terms of CD instead of gazette. "In view of a decision made by the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen, the result will be given on CDs and not gazette at 10:00 am on September 8," declared a notification issued by the BISE Multan. It further said that the price of each CD was Rs. 100 and all those wanting to get it could acquire the CD after depositing Rs. 100 in the bank. It may not be out of place to mention here that the result can also be checked on BISE Multan's website (WWW.bisemultan.edu.pk).
Anti-dengue day observed: On the order of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the district government launched the anti-dengue campaign here the other day. In this connection, DCO Tahir Khursheed Chaudhry led an anti-dengue walk along with EDO (Health) Dr Ashiq Hussain Malik and DO Social Welfare Muhammad Saleem Akhtar Chaudhry. The walk was started from purani Chungi No-2 on Jail Road and culminated in front of DHQ Hospital. Moreover, EDO Health Dr Muhammad Sadique Saqib Chaudhry along with DO Social welfare Muhammad Saleem Akhtar visited several places to monitor anti-dengue activities across the district. Speaking on the occasion, said that the Health Department and entomologists were conducting indoor and outdoor surveillance to eliminate dengue larva. Meanwhile, DCO Tahir Khursheed Ch directed the officials to form special teams for the inspection of graveyards and covering of water pots and ditches at graveyards. According to him, the administration will provide five tractor-trolleys of sand to each town for the purpose. He directed the UCs secretaries to cooperate with the dengue squads in spraying and fogging of their respective areas.
Meanwhile, a seminar was also held at Govt Girls College Karam Dad Qureshi. Pamphlets were distributed among people.
