Rescuers fail to recover youths’ bodies

LAHORE – Rescue-1122 teams and special divers failed to recover the bodies of two youngsters from the River Ravi on Monday.
Earlier, the deceased youths (Sadaqat Ali and Muhammad Ali of Saeed Park, Shahdara) along with their third friend on Sunday left their homes, informing their families that they were going to enjoy picnic with their other friends. But, they went to the River Ravi and dived into the deep water. “Only one friend could approach the bank of the river and the rest of two drowned as they could not know how to swim,” a rescuer said.
15 ROBBERS NABBED: At least 15 gangsters including dacoits, robbers, drugs peddlers, proclaimed offenders and court absconders have been arrested from different parts of the City.
According to details, Sadar Police Division arrested proclaimed offenders Asghar Ali, Haneefa Bibi, Muhammad Akram and Muneer Ahmed. Similarly, the same division rounded up POs involved in armed robberies, identified as Amanat Ali, Sakhawat, Qaisar and Amanat alias Fauji. The SP (Operations) dispatched special teams in different parts of the Punjab and arrested the aforesaid culprits from Manga Mandi, Township, Kasur and Sabzazaar areas.
Police have also recovered heavy quantity of narcotics, liquor, cash, motorbikes and other stolen valuables from their possession.
Similarly, a five-member swindler gang was busted by the Old Anarkali police and the culprits namely ringleader Imran alias Bhai, and his four accomplices Abdul Rasheed, Babar Ali, Maryam and Nazeeran Bibi. Stolen gold ornaments, five cellphones, illegal firearms and other valuables were also recovered from them.
TRANSFERS, POSTINGS: Punjab Police Inspector General Habibur Rehman on Monday ordered transfers and postings of following five police officers.
According to the notification, Muhammad Zeshan Raza has been posted as SP Security-II, security division Lahore. Additional SP Headquarters Multan Ghulam Shabbir has been transferred and posted as SP (PHP) DG Khan while AIG (Career Planning) Faisal Ali Raja has been transferred and posted as SSP (Investigations) Branch Punjab. Dr Muhammad Abid (awaiting posting) has been posted as AIG (Career Planning).
Similarly, SP (Investigations) Attock Yahya Hassan Virk has been directed to report to the Central Police Office. 
WARNING: Investigations Police Chief DIG Chaudhry Shafique Gujjar warned the police investigators to carry out investigations into crimes cases on merit and no innocent person should be arrested.
According to a press release issued on Monday, the DIG issued these directions during his visits to the six police division in the City. He also directed the investigators to complete the challans within 14 days and the identification-parade of the accused should also be done at the earliest. He further said the investigation officer would himself present the record of accused persons in the courts on time and no leniency would be tolerated in this regard.
He also warned that the investigators found involved in corruption and misuse of power would be given punishment as per law.
INSPECTION: State-of-the-art road safety institutes meant to train not only the beginners but also polish the skills of professional drivers and enhance their road safety sense are producing amasing results, said NH&MP Inspector General Zafar Abbas Lak on Monday.
Inspecting the under-construction NH&MP Babu Sabu Building Complex, Lak directed the contracting company to speed up the construction work. N-5 Central DIG Rai Altaf Hussain briefed the IG about the whole project. The IG said there was dire need to establish Road Safety Institutes (Driver’s Training Institutes) all over the country.
“These Institutes are necessary for producing drivers with better sense of traffic rules and bringing discipline on our roads,” the IG added. He further directed that the performance of these institutes should be monitored so that maximum desired results may be obtained from them.
Later, the IG held a meeting with senior officials of motorway police to discuss different aspect of under-construction complex. He directed that day-to-day progress may be obtained and close liaison with the contracting company should be ensured for the timely completion of the project.
