BUCHAREST - Romania's parliament recognized on Monday a court decision that suspended President Traian Basescu should return to office, drawing a line under a political row that has hit asset prices.
The attempt by Prime Minister Victor Ponta's leftist alliance to remove his rightist rival Basescu prompted harsh criticism from the European Union and United States over his government's respect for the rule of law and the judiciary.
The Constitutional Court had ruled a referendum to oust Basescu was invalid because turnout was less than half the electorate.
