BAHAWALPUR - Three people including 2 women were drowned while another was saved when a speeding car fell into Shashmahi Canal near Bagochi Bridge.

According to detail, four people were going from Ahmadpur East to Laal Sohanra Park for picnic in a car. When they reached Shashmahi Canal near Bagochi Bridge, the car driver lost the control due to which the car fell into the canal. Rescue-1122 rushed the spot and pulled out the car from canal.

But they could not save Muhammad Sajid, Seema Umar and Bushra Umar while Rao Umar Daraaz, a Wapda Line Superintendent was rescued.

Anti-dengue campaign kicked off: An effective spray campaign has been launched to eradicate dengue from the district.

Punjab Prisons Minister Malik Iqbal Channar inaugurated the anti-dengue initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that on the directions of the Punjab CM, all the provincial and district departments were taking part in the eradication of dengue campaign. He appealed that the public must take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the virus.

Earlier, Tehsil Municipal Officer Atta Ullah Wahla said that the Punjab government had provided 18 new shoulder fogging machines, 11 hand pump and 1 pick-up van equipped with heavy fogging machine to the TMA to ensure elimination of dengue. On the other hand, several teams sprayed various office including Bindra Puli, the Irrigation Department offices, Water treatment plant Tiba Badar Sher and various parts of Islami Colony.

QRF commander suspended on graft charges: Quick Response Force (QRF) District Commander Akbar khan suspended Company commander Hafiz Isaac after corruption allegations were proved against him.

Reportedly, QRF company commander hafiz Isaac was accused of corruption by other QRF personnel.

According to complainants, he had used their TA/DA bills and allowances illegally. Subsequently, District commander Akbar khan conducted an inquiry which proved hafiz Isaac guilty of corruption.

 Moreover, the complainants demanded the Vehari DPO to help recover their funds immediately.
