KOT RADHA KISHAN

The rising number of motorcycle rickshaws being ridden by underage drivers has become a major cause of road accidents and nuisance in the city.

Most of these rickshaws are unregistered and the drivers, mostly teenagers, have no driving licences. According to a survey conducted by The Nation, 70 percent of the drivers have no driving licences which aggravate the situation. In fact the motorcycle rickshaws have become a major reason for road accidents.

Meanwhile, these rickshaws have become cause of noise pollution and create nuisance in the area. Along with irritating sounds of these rickshaws, the drivers play music amplifiers at full volumes while the police and TMA have turned a deaf ear to complaints of the public in this regard. The police, TMA and the District Administration supposed to curb the menace, have appeared to be in tacit agreement with violators. The citizens have demanded the DCO and DPO to take action against worst violation of law to rid the public of the nightmare.
