At least four persons were killed and another injured in an armed clash between two rival groups over a land dispute here in Gujranwala on Wednesday.

According to police, armed men of two groups hailing from village Wahendo, tehsil Kamonki of Gujranwala district which were in old rivalry over a land piece ownership traded fire.

As a result of firing four people were killed on the spot and another sustained wounds.

The accused managed to escape from the scene after the clash. The fire exchange and quadrupled murder triggered panic and fright in the area.

Heavy contingent of police reached the area after the incident and brought the situation under control

The bodies and the injured were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Police said the said groups used to have fights in the past as well over the land dispute but it became bloody on Wednesday.

A case has been registered against armed men of both groups and search for them was underway.
