ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) sports committee hosted a reception in honour of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) president Syed Kaleem Imam and Asian No 1 U-14 player Syed Nofil Kaleem on Tuesday.

Speaking at the occasion, ICCI president Zafar Bakhtawari stressed the need of promoting sporting activities to counter growing wave of terrorism. “Sports have their own significant impact on uniting the nation and help building a strong society. Kaleem Imam is doing a remarkable job ever since he has taken the helm of affairs of the federation and I hope he will try his best to bring tennis to new heights in the country,” he said. He assured the PTF that the ICCI sports committee would lend a helping hand to the federation in finding and grooming the grassroots level talent. He announced to hold ICCI Ranking Tennis Championship in near future.

Sharing his views, Nofil Kaleem thanked the ICCI sports committee for honouring him and promised to win more laurels for the country and become a champion in next three to four years.

Kaleem Imam also thanked ICCI sports committee and RISJA for providing him with an opportunity to share his feelings and plans and also requested the sports body to highlight tennis as much as they could. “We have the potential and talent and I am doing my level best to arrange maximum funds. I promised that the current year would be the year of tournaments and I had fulfilled my promise by organising 12 championships so far and we have still four months left,” Kaleem said.  Kaleem requested the ICCI to lend a helping hand to federation and use their good offices in finding sufficient amount of sponsors.

He offered ICCI members and their kids to utilize PTF complex facilities free of cost. Later, Zafar Bakhtawari presented a shield to Kaleem Imam and Nofil Kaleem for their outstanding achievements.
