LAHORE - A mother-of-four was strangulated by her husband in Laiqatabad, police said on Tuesday. The police said 27-year-old Zaiba tied the know with Azam after getting divorced from her ex.

Azam killed her because he doubted his spouse’s fidelity, the cops said.

The children of the deceased told the police that their stepfather, Azam, exchanged harsh words with Zaiba for coming back home late night that led to the murder.

The police revealed the deceased had contracted second marriage with the killer a couple of months ago. The police have moved the body to morgue for autopsy and are investigating.

Separately, a 39-year-old man was found dead from the Civil Lines police limits. The police the man was lying dead on a road near Sir Ganga Ram Hospital as they reached the spot. Some passersby spotted the body and alerted the police. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.

Robbed of life

Dacoits gunned down a 35-year-old trader on offering resistance during a road-robbery in the Garhi Shahu police area.

Police sources said that the trader, identified as Mubashar Hussain, was on his way home after closing his godown when two motorcyclists intercepted his two-wheeler in front of railways stadium.

The bandits held up the man at gunpoint and demanded cash and mobile phone. As he offered resistance, the robbers opened straight fire at him and escaped after snatching his mobile phone and purse, containing thousands of rupees. The man sustained serious bullet wounds and died in the way to hospital.
