MANDI BAHAUDDIN

The motherland is faced with crises thus the government and the opposition should get united to steer the country out of national troubles, stressed senior vice president of Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society.

Talking to the local ex-servicemen on telephone, Commodore Farooq Mirza said Army and other security forces personnel are sacrificing their lives to protect the country from external and internal enemies. He added that the ex-servicemen stood with them in the hard times. He said the present government came to power with public mandate in a democratic way and it should be given time to focus on national issues to be dealt with without interference of the opposition. Time is ripe for unity among the political parties and all the parties should unite and assist the government to resolve problems with courage and peace of mind, he asserted. He said that India should settle issues with Pakistan through negotiation.

“About 2.2 ex-servicemen with the support of public are on the back of our armed forces to frustrate evil designs of the enemies in defense of our homeland. We will teach a lesson accordingly if India launches aggression against Pakistan,” said Mirza. He also warned India to stop violation of Line of Control as it would make the situation out of control.  Talking about PESS affairs, he said central committee had decided to make Lt-Gen Faiz Ali Chishti as patron-in-chief of the Society for life on 15 September 2013 and thus post of president would remain vacant. On the same date, election for the new president would be held at PESS’ main office Rawalpindi. He said according to election schedule, nomination papers would be received till September 1.
