LAHORE - Lahore police on Tuesday claimed to have smashed two members of a gang involved in several armed robberies. Police said that the arrested bandits had a criminal history and were wanted in dozens of cases of armed robberies.

A police spokesman said that during preliminary investigations the bandits had confessed to no less than 32 incidents of armed robberies.

Taking strict notice of the sudden rise in robberies, Lahore DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai gave special task to SP Model Town Tariq Aziz, who constituted a special police team under the supervision of SHO Ghalib Market police station, Muhammad Ali Butt to track down the gangsters.

 The police collected particulars of the gang from the victims, raided in different parts of the city, and arrested two men, identified as Zohaib, alias Zaibi, and Abid Javed.

The police have also recovered one motorcycle and four mobile phones and cash from their possession. Police officials also said that raids were underway to arrest two other accomplices of the bandits.
