In separate incidents took place in different parts here at least eight people including three women and a minor girl were killed.

In first mishap which took place in Mauza Khan Da Kot situated in the remit of Massan Police, brother-in-law gunned down wife of his elder brother over land dispute.

Accused Ghulam Haider opened indiscriminate firing on his sister-in-law Ghulam Sughra, wife of his elder brother Inayatullah, killing her on the spot. The reason behind this murder is land dispute. Police have registered a case on the application of deceased’s mother Ghulam Fatima and is investigating.

In another incident, husband killed his wife over petty family issue. Reportedly, Sajad Mallah a resident of korray Wala Mauza Dhoin Muhammad in the limit of 18-Hazari Police frequently quarreled with his wife Sonia at which she settled with his parents. Two days back Sajad took his wife to his home and they again started quarrel at which Sajad flared up and he opened indiscriminate firing by his pistol on his wife. Resultantly, she sustained bullets injuries and succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

In Chak 444, one Allah Ditta killed his wife Razia Bibi over land dispute. As per details, Razia Bibi sold her Agri lands at which her husband was very grieved. He tortured his wife with iron rods. Resultantly, she sustained critical wounds and was took to hospital but there she succumbed to her injuries.

In another mishap, a student of four class was killed. According to sources, Tayyaba Laraib a student of four class of Government Girls Primary School of Shorkot went to school with other students. As they reached school the gate of school was closed, so she climbed up to open gate when suddenly the heavy iron gate of school fell over her and she breathed her last on the way to hospital. On information Deputy District Education Female Shorkot Miss Azra Amjid reached the spot and dismissed Head Mistress Farhat Naseem, teacher Asia Batool and Tahira Naseem and held an inquiry against them.

In a road mishap which occurred on Jhang – Toba road near Ashaba pull, a car hit a 40 year old Mapal son of Ghulam Sarwar a resident of Chak 476-JB due to which he died on the spot. On Jhang-Faisal Abad road near Mansha Hotel, an overspeed passenger van hit a motorcyclist identified as Babar Aslam son of Aslam of Chak 263 Patoana. As a result, he sustained serious injuries and was took to hospital where he breathed his last.

In Bahawalpur, a person and his nephew were killed by armed persons over old enmity in Basti Tayyab near Ahmadpur Lama.

Dost Deen, 22, and his nephew Muhammad Yaseen, 20, were present at a tube well near their house when eight armed men allegedly including Ali Jaan, Sajjan, Noor Hassan, Faiz, Ali Haider and three unknown persons came there and started firing. As a result, they got critically injured and died on the spot.

After hearing the gunshots, the people of area gathered there and the accused fled away while doing aerial firing, family of the victims informed the Ahmadpur Lama Police.

The victims were to get married after Eidul Azha. The police took custody of the dead body and shifted them to a hospital for postmortem.

SIX ATTEMPT SUICIDE: Meanwhile, in frustration of financial crisis and domestic disputes, six people including three women attempted suicide and one of them died in a hospital.

Resident of Chak 64NP, 40-year-old Mehdi Hassan, attempted suicide in frustration of domestic disputes, drank large quantity of pesticide spray. He was taken to the hospital where he was provided with the medical treatment but he could not survive as the poison had spread throughout his body.

The hospital administration handed over the dead body to the family after completing necessary formalities.

Resident of Zahirpir Parveen, 18, Jamaldinwali’s 15 years old Sajjad Hussain, Rajanpur’s 21 years old Sagheeran, Sultanpur’s 20 years old Akram Hussain and Kamo Sharif’s 25 years old Sameena Bibi attempted suicide on which they were taken to the hospital where they were still under treatment.
