The activists of ruling PML-N brought out rallies in connection with its ongoing activities under the banner of Istehkam-e-Pakistan drive to support the government here on Wednesday.

A big rally was led by provincial minister for prisons Ch Abdul Waheed Arrain.  The leaguers started their march from Ghanta Ghar and rallied up to Chowk Kachehri where the PML-N leaders addressed the participants. They shouted slogans in favour of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif.

Speaking on the occasion, Ch Abdul Waheed Arrain, MNA Abdul Ghaffar Dogar, former MNA Tariq Rasheed and others said that the leaders of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehrik set highly condemnable undemocratic traditions by staging sit-ins in Islamabad. They maintained that Mian Nawaz Sharif came to power with the support of public and no one could force him to resign from his office. They warned that the PML-N workers would encircle all those, who hatched conspiracies against government and Nawaz Sharif. They asked the prime minister to stand firm as millions of PML-N workers stood by him. Strict security arrangements were made by police on this occasion.

In the wake of resignations of the PTI Punjab Assembly members, PA Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal said he was not bound to accept any resignation in the stipulated period. He also criticized the sit-ins in Islamabad. Talking to media at Sargodha, he said that PA secretary had informed him about the resignations. He said that he would see all the resignations individually.

He said the whole nation was confronting terrorism thus the protest sit ins were not in the national interest. He termed the resolution for democracy approved in the National Assembly the voice of the nation. He said the respect of the Constitution and the law could put the country on the path to progress and prosperity.
