LAHORE: Protection of minorities and their worship places is vital for the government in the country. This was stated by Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid while addressing a ceremony in Lahore today.

He said all citizens are equal in the eyes of Constitution irrespective of their beliefs. He said that the government will seriously consider the proposals presented by the minorities to amend the law of their land-grabbing for strict action.

The Minister assured that computerization of land record has been completed which would solve this issue once and for all.

“We have already announced that we will not get a stay order and contest the re-election,” Rashid told journalists. “Imran Khan,” he said, “would not dare to stand against the PML-N in the by-elections.”

The information minister said that PTI had contested many by-elections under the same Election Commission.

“Imran Khan took part in the Haripur by-election along with his family,” he said, “Local government elections too were conducted by the same Election Commission,” he noted.

Rashid hoped that Imran Khan would not repeat his sit-in mistake again.

“Khan Sahib has yet to pay the bills of his last sit-in. How can he even think about staging another one?” he questioned jokingly.

He said that government had no powers to remove the election commission. To a question, he expressed concerns about the Indian aggression along the Line of Control. “We have great respect for opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah,” he said, and rejected impression that PML-N was subjecting anybody to political victimization
