ISLAMABAD - Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to withhold salaries of the employees who fail to furnish their degrees for verification by end of current month. The decision was taken after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) asked the CDA chairman to submit names of the defying officials. “A meeting would be held today (Friday) in the authority headquarters on the issue of degree verification and further course of action against the officials who failed to provide their degrees will be decided,” sources in the CDA said yesterday. They said that only around 500 officers out of 2,000 have so far provided their degrees for verification while the rest were yet to submit the same.
“They were rather resisting the move through union and influential political figures,” the sources added. The NAB authorities have asked CDA chairman to provide record of the degrees verified till end of August besides furnishing names of those who have failed to furnish their degrees for verification.
According to the sources, a large number of CDA employees have fake degrees. Furthermore, they said, the fake degrees holders have now started giving ads in newspapers that they have lost their educational certificates and if found send it on their respective addresses.
