QUETTA - At least two labourers were killed when unidentified armed persons opened fire at them on Quetta's Sariab road on Thursday.
Police said motorcycle-riding armed men opened fire at the labourers on Sariab road, critically injuring them. The assailants fled from the scene after the attack. The victims succumbed to their wounds while rescue teams were shifting them to a nearby hospital.
Police stated that both victims had received multiple bullet injuries. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for post-mortem.
Police and personnel of frontier corps reached the spot arrived at the attack site and cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident went underway. No immediate claim of responsibility was made following the attacks.
Police said the incident seems to be an act of targeted killing. Incidents of targeted violence frequently take place in the restive Balochistan province.
Three terrorists killed
as bomb goes off
At least three suspected terrorists were killed while they were busy planting an explosive device at railway track in Bolan. According to Levies sources, the terrorists were planting explosive device for blowing up railway track in Bala Nari area when the bomb exploded, killing three terrorists on the spot. The explosion did not damage the railway track, while security forces recovered three hand grenades from the spot. The terrorists wanted to target the train travelling from Rawalpindi to Quetta. The bodies were shifted to Sibbi hospital.
Meanwhile, Frontier Corps (FC) apprehended a suspect and confiscated weapons from his possession. According to FC spokesman, the security personnel conducted a raid on a tip off and nabbed the suspect from Kharan. Officers have claimed of recovering one SMG, one short gun and three telescopes from the detained person.
