Trader recovered from police torture cell

HAFIZABAD - Abducted for ransom, a trader of Haroonabad district Bahawalnagar was recovered from the alleged torture cell set up by Saddr police here Saturday.  According to Haroonabad police, a case had been registered against ASI Riaz Mubashar, Constable Riaz Ahmad Mohal, Police Qaumi Razakar Ali Shan of Saddr Police station on the charge of abducting Yasin. A few days ago the Haroonabad police have dramatically arrested all the three cops against whom the abduction case had been registered with Haroonabad police station.

On the information given by the cops, the police raided alleged torture cell set up by constable Irshad on Kassoke Road and recovered Yasin. The district police confirmed the setting up of the torture cell. However, an official with the condition of anonymity confirmed that abductee Yasin was detained illegally and hence SHO Saddr Mujahid Farooq has also been suspended for his negligence or patronising the cop.

It is also stated by the official that the abductee was kept in illegal confinement by the cop to extract huge bribe. However, according to Haroonabad police, the accused cops were demanding huge amount as ransom from Munir Ahmad brother of the abductee.

On the side, a young trader of Sukheke Mandi was found killed in his shop last night. According to police source, Khadim Hussain son of Yar Muhammad Khichi was proprietor of a tent service.

He was found killed on his cot when his servant visited the shop in the morning. A gun was also found lying on the cot. It is stated that the deceased was facing financial problems for the past sometime and he might have committed suicide by shooting himself with his own gun. The police have shifted the dead body to the hospital for autopsy.

11 HELD SEARCH OPERATION: Saddr police along with other law enforcers launched search operation in scores of villages bordering Gujranwala district by using biometric machines and rounded up 11 suspicious persons and took them to unknown place for interrogation.

The police also arrested the owner of an illegal gateway exchange Munawar alias Heera Chohan red-handed and recovered Rs1.5 million of ‘Hundi’, laptop, over 100 SIMs of different networks and other apparatus.

The raiding party also arrested a notorious drug paddler Muhammad Aslam alias Sohnya and have recovered 1,500 grams Charas from his possession.

Meanwhile, the district administration prohibited all the NGOs and religious organisations from collecting hides of sacrificial animals without getting prior permission of the administration by 5 Zilhaj. The administration has also banned the use of speaker for collecting hides and skins from the public on Eid days.

The administration has appealed to the general public not to donate hides and skins of sacrificial animals to the banned religious organisations and also pinpoint those elements who might pressure them for the collection of hides.
