Will observe Defence, martyrs day in befitting manner: DG ISPR

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Tuesday said that the nation’s martyrs and their families will be remembered on Defence and Martyrs Day.

He was speaking, at the planning conference organized by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in Rawalpindi and chalked out a comprehensive programme to observe the forthcoming Defence and Martyrs Day in a befitting manner.

DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor briefed the participants including representatives of the ministry of information, armed forces, media and civil society about the plan.

"Our every martyr should be visible on the Defence Day", he stated. We are planning to put pictures of our martyrs on airports and railway stations to make people realise about their sacrifices, he added.

He said the ministry and ISPR would have a joint coordinating role for the observance of the day this year in a unique manner. The information ministry and ISPR would serve as focal points for the country-wide awareness campaign.

The planning conference was informed that the main ceremony of the day would be held at General Headquarters and it would be broadcast live.

Representatives of the people would visit the home of every martyr and thank their heirs on behalf of the nation.
