Aleem wins Club Title for 2010

LAHORE Aleem-ur-Rahman emerged as a Lahore Gymkhana Club Champion after two rounds of competitive golf at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course. The overnight leader Shahid Khan was adversely affected by nerves and lost strokes with gay abandon making way for other contenders to overtake him and in this process Danyaal Jehangir and Hamza Mansoor came out as the likely front runners. It was towards the end that Aleem-ur-Rahman took advantage of his composed play to force a move that brought him success and left the other strong contenders in distress. During this championship, Aleem-ur-Rahman carded rounds of 76 on the first day and 77 on the second day with a total aggregate of 153. Although Aleem-ur-Rahman has won the Gymkhana Club title but his score is not as impressive as expected. This youngster who is currently on a holiday in Pakistan from his studies in USA is extremely keen to serve the country at the national level and this desire can only come through if his rounds and scores are in the par and under par range. In a post event statement Aleem stated that he is working hard on his game, spending a lot of time on the driving range and also in the gymnasium and hopes to give a better demonstration of his ability in the tournaments to come. Danyaal Jehangir fought it out to the very end, however had to be content with the runners-up position with scores of 79 and 75 and an aggregate of 150. Danyaals younger brother Salman Jehangir ended up at 157 securing the third position followed by Imran Ahmed at 158, Wazir Ali at 160, Mohsin Zafar at 162, Sardar Murad at 163 along with Mir Maaz Mehmood. In the net section, Hamza Mansoor won the first net with a score of net 134, the little one Mahad Zafar came second with a score of net 139 and Shargil Hussain came third with a net score of 143. Winner of the Captains Prize is Hamza Mansoor. Earlier on the first day, the ladies title was won by Nushmiya Sukhera. Other Results: Seniors: Javed A.
