LAHORE - Army will take on Wapda and PAF will vie with Navy in the semi-finals of the 31st National Games football tournament at Pakistan Sports Complex Jinnah Stadium today (Tuesday). The semi-finals will start at 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm respectively. Earlier, Wapda and Pakistan Army entered the last four stage of the Games football event after defeating their respective rivals, according to information received here on Monday. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Railways were eliminated from the Games football event when National title holder Wapda played a draw against PAF at Jinnah Stadium Quaid-i-Azam Sports Complex, Islamabad. Meanwhile, five-time National Games gold medallist Army clinched semi-final berth in Group-A by beating Navy 1-0. Front-runner Shakil Yousof netted the all-important goal in the 18th minute. Wapda, eight-time National Champion who won the National Games in 1992, dominated the Group-B game. But PAF came back twice to fire the leveller. The five-day football event will be concluded on December 29. The soldiers, already in last four, will attempt to make it fourth in a row, having completed triumphs of gold in soccer of National Games three years ago, overwhelming host Sindh in final of the National Games Football Tournament at Karachi's Peoples Sports Complex.
