LAHORE A Division Bench of the Lahore High Court Monday suspended 10-year imprisonment earlier awarded by an accountability court to Junaid Karim, Director Capital Development Authority (CDA), and ordered to release him on bail against furnishing the surety bonds to the tune of Rs 3 million. Comprising Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Justice Sheikh Ahmad Farooq, the Bench passed the said order on the appeal filed by Karim, after he was sentenced to 10-year jail by an accountability court, Rawalpindi, along with Shaukat Abbas and Jaffar Raza in October last. The court had also imposed Rs 2 million fine on each of the three convicts. However, the court acquitted another accused Abdus Salam Baloch of the charges. The convict/appellant was accused of embezzlement of funds allocated under his disposal for the improvement of water supply system in sectors G-6 and G-7, Islamabad.
