LAHORE - KESC failed to take sweet revenge when they lost to KRL 0-1 in 234th match of the Pakistan Premier Football League at People's Sports Complex, Karachi, on Monday. Both the teams have so far completed 29 matches and KRL captured 57 points in comparison to KESC's 52. KRL also defeated KESC 3-0 in the first leg at Rawalpindi in October. The all-important goal for KRL was scored by front-runner Kalim Ullah in the 21st minute, his fourth goal of the event. Despite scoring 37 goals in the League, KRL is on the way to silver medals. Leading scorer in the event are M Qasim (11), followed by Zia Us Salam (four), Kalim Ullah (four), Syed Ghazi (three), Mehmood Khan three, M Shahid (two), Mudassar Saeed (two). HBL beat Navy: Meanwhile, HBL declared winner against Navy 3-0 win as the seamen failed to turn up at KPT-Benazir Sports Complex in another match of the event. Navy finished their quota of 30 matches, gaining 42 points with 11 wins and nine draws, goal counts 35-42. On the other hand, HBL went clear of Relegation Zone, securing 25 points in all their 30 matches, leaving SSGC 20 pts, PMC 18 pts and Young Blood 18 pts to fight out for drifting away from last two places. PIA took another step to capture second in the League when they imposed hard-fought 1-0 win over Wapda at Peoples Sports Complex. The golden goal of the match was netted by PIA's spearhead Shakir Lashari in the 65th minute, the 600th goal of the PPFL. With the win PIA, having 56 points in 29 matches, put pressure on KRL (29 match, 57 points), Army (29, 53) and KESC (29, 52). It was Shakir Lashari's 10th goal of the 49 scored by PIA. Their other scorers in League are Nazeer Ahmed eight, Nasr Ullah Khan seven, Hasnain Abbas five, Muhammad Ishtiaq five, Zeeshan Ali five, Saddam Hussain three, Wasim Ullah one, Abdul Ghaffar one, Ali Ehsan one plus three from walk over.
