LAHORE: The Sixth Shaheen Gold Cup Cricket tournament will commence in the second week of January 2010 under the aegis of Shaheen Club, this was announced by the organisers here on Monday. While announcing the details, first-class cricketer Tahir said revealed that as many as eight registered clubs belonging to City will vie for the top honours. Every match will of 65 overs and should be completed in two days. Tahir Shah that they are trying to revive the cricket in the provincial capital which standard is going down every passing day. He said that a few clubs are producing Test level players while this tournament will produce interest in the youth and boost their game. He also blamed that PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt is a chairman of three clubs namely, Servis Clubs , Servis Colts, Servis Club and Gulberg Eaglets but there are only one club is functioning while two other clubs have only on papers. Tahir Shah called upon the Pakistan Cricket Board to make arrangements for clubs scrutiny to wipe out the bogus clubs those are only in papers.
