LAHORE Chairman Sunni Ittehad Council Sahibzada Haji Fazal Karim has said the government should clear its position on the issue of blasphemy law. Addressing 'Tahafuz Namoos-e-Risalat Convention here on Monday, Fazal Karim said if the government would not clear its position they would launch a countrywide movement for their demands. He said the government wanted to repeal the blasphemy law just to please America, Europe and Israel. He said the devil forces had opened battlefield against the Muslim, adding it was the need of hour to unite and counter the western propaganda. He also criticised the role of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer in the blasphemy law case, saying it was a sensitive issue and they would not allow him to support his agenda. On the occasion, other speakers including Haji Hanif Tayyab, Pir Mohammad Afzal Qadri, Sarwat Ijaz Qadri, Pir Mian Abdul Khaliq, Pir Mohammad Habib Irfani, Pir Naqeeb-ur-Rahman, Pir Syed Mahfooz, Allama Syed Farhat Hussain Shah, Allama Shadab Naqashbandi, Fazal-ur-Rahman Okarvi, Mohammad Saleem, Mohammad Nawaz Kharal, Mufti Khan Mohammad Qadri, Fida Hussain Shah said the enemies of Islam were more active and we should get united to counter them. They were of the view that the impression of using blasphemy law for personal grudge was wrong. The leaders of Sunni Itihad also announced a protest rally at Karachi on December 31. On the occasion, the participants of the convention chanted slogans against the government.
