LAHORE - The 13th executive-body of the Government College University Lahore Library Society has been formed on Tuesday for the academic session 2010-11.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman administrated oath to the new office-bearers at a welcome ceremony at Fazal-e-Hussain Reading Room.

According to the notification, Syed Atif Hussain has been appointed Library Society President, Abdul Munim (Vice President boys), Ummar Amin (Vice President females), Anum Jamil (Assistant VP), Usman Zamurrad Khan (General Secretary), Faiza Khaleel (Joint Secretary) and Attiya Khan (Finance Secretary).

Speaking on the occasion, the VC appreciated the efforts made by the students of Library Society to organise several lectures, exhibitions, book fairs and seminars from promotion of booking reading among students.

wins speech contest: The Government College University Lahore Debating Society has clean swept the All Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Urdu Speech Contest organised by the Pakistan Ideology Trust.

The orators from 40 educational institutions took part in the speech contest. GCU student Ali Abid stood first while Adnan Farooq of Government College University secured the second position. Government College University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman congratulated the orators on their achievement.
