ISLAMABAD (INP) - The Interior Ministry has removed from Exit Control List (ECL) the name of Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, after his acquittal in multi-billion National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) scam.
According to sources in the Ministry, soon after his acquittal, PML-Q MPA now a key ally of central PPP government, Moonis moved an application to the Ministry for removal of his name from ECL. The Ministry, however, allowed him one time travel abroad and afterwards he left for UK, but so far he had not returned. The sources informed that after getting instructions from higher authorities, his name had been completely removed from the list.
NICL case is stilling pending before the courts, however, two main accused Chaudhry Moonis Elahi and Ayaz Niazi, had been acquitted by the trial courts.
Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Federal Minister, had also deposited the amount taken by his wife in NICL scam.
