LAHORE – Panic gripped the area shortly after a chemical shopping bag exploded in a heap of garbage placed in Sanda police precincts on Tuesday.

Police reached the spot timely and cordoned of the area. Bomb disposal squad also rushed to the scene and collected necessary evidences to ascertain the main cause of the incident. A police officer said the incident took place at a mound of garbage placed in front of a local bank at Double Sarkan. “It was a shopping bag filled with explosive, which caused huge blast owing to some chemical reaction,” said a senior police officer adding the people of the area remained safe. He said the material had been sent to Forensic Laboratory for chemical examination.

Labourers burnT: Two labourers sustained multiple burn injuries when fire broke out in residential quarters near Data Darbar in Lower Mall police area on Tuesday. Police investigators said two labourers Qadir and Ali were sleeping when accidentally fire broke out in their quarter. The carpet and other stuff caught fire and were reduced to ashes, resultantly they sustained burn injuries. They were shifted to the Burn Unit of Mayo Hospital where their condition was told stable.

falls unconscious: A prisoner, convicted in narcotics case, fell unconscious in Kot Lakhpat Jail on Tuesday, sources close to the Jail authorities said. They further said the prisoner identified as Tayyab Butt fell unconscious due to cardiac arrest. He was shifted to the local hospital where his condition was told stable.
