SUKKUR - Water and Power Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar said that 1,500 megawatt power pilfering is being carried out in the country and action would be taken against such culprits.
Talking to reporters at Sukkur airport on Thursday, Mukhtar said the government had finalised some recommendations to overcome the power crisis, under which fuel supplies would be ensured for the power plants. He said the logistic constraints were hampering fuel supply to power plants in Punjab.
He said the government had decided to provide more gas and fuel to the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC). All the shortcomings will be ended soon, he added.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim said that Pakistan’s stance to enhance trade relations with India is a new era between the two countries. Regional Trade is quite common in other countries of the world but owing to poor political relations between the said countries trade activities could not promoted, he said while talking to media here.
He further added that the government is working on the roadmap made for the improvement of promotion of trade in this regard.
On the other hand, it has been reported that the tomato price in local market has doubled, as the traders say that import of tomato from India has halted after which the growers have increased the rates. The rate of tomato had declined drastically up to Rs20 per kilogramme after the Indian tomato flooded the domestic market under a government decision. However, the rates increased to Rs40 per kg a few days back and then it shot up to Rs80 per kg.
The market survey revealed that the growers were unhappy complaining of huge losses when a box of 10kg tomato used to be sold for Rs200 only. Now the same box of 10kg costs Rs800.
All-out efforts on to resolve issues: Religious Affairs Minister Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah has said that the government is making all-out efforts to resolve the economic issues of the country.
Talking to newsmen at Sukkur Airport on Thursday‚ he said due to the prudent polices of the government, the economic condition has improved a lot during the last four years.
He said the revenue collection increased to 22 billion dollars in 2012 that was 11 billion dollars in 2008.
