ISLAMABAD: Members of the United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) Pakistan team , Syeda Wazish Zahra and Fawad Alam, won the prestigious Innovation Challenge Award in a worldwide competition among WFP teams.

Executive Director of WFP Ertharin Cousin gave the award to the Pakistan team in a ceremony, said a press release issued today. Besides Pakistan, teams from Cambodia, Malawi and Uganda were also decorated with awards in their respective categories. The award has been given in recognition to their success in introducing new ways of working to further improve WFP's operations around the world.

WFP Executive Director Cousin congratulated the team for introducing the innovation which served to enhance WFP’s performance in the country. She said that encouraging WFP managers to look out for good ideas, not let what was good in the past stand in the way of what could be good in the future.

While receiving the award, Syeda Wazish Zahra who works in WFP Pakistan’s Compliance Unit said she along with her colleague felt thrilled at receiving the award, which would definitely encourage her and her team to keep looking for new ideas. USAID, among others, has recognized the program as a good practice and is already assisting other WFP country offices in setting up similar feedback systems.
