SIALKOT - As part of electioneering for his son as PML-N candidate ahead of 2018 general elections, former federal law minister Zahid Hamid spent a busy day in his native Pasrur city.
After his resignation following the Faizabad protest sit-in, he held first open court in Pasrur, and listened to the problems of the locals. He also issued orders on various applications.
Hamid has also launched his son Ali Zahid in the local politics after their meeting with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Both Zahid Hamid and his son Ali Zahid had called on Nawaz Sharif a few days ago and discussed the national, regional and local political scenario.
The PML-N top leadership might replace Ali Zahid with his father Zahid Hamid as the candidate in their native constituency (NA-114 Pasrur-Sialkot) for general elections.
The people close to family said that Zahid Hamid was likely to be designated as an ambassador of Pakistan soon by the government. His replacement with his son was expected after Hamid's resignation followed by the nationwide strong protests by the Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasoolallah which started at Faizabad-Rawalpindi during the last month.
Addressing the party workers, Ali Zahid vowed to continue "serving" the people. He said that he would obey the orders of the PML-N top leadership whatever it would decide about the PML-N candidate in the constituency.
Talking to newsmen, Zahid Hamid said that the general elections would be held on time in 2018 and the PML-N would make a clean sweep int he with heavy mandate again.
