A bomb has killed two people and wounded eight at a restaurant in western Eritrea in a rare attack in the Red Sea state, the government said on Saturday. There was no immediate independent confirmation of the attack, which the information ministry's website said happened on Wednesday. It said police were investigating. "Two people were killed and eight others seriously injured when a bomb exploded at a restaurant in Haikota semi-urban centre," it said, adding that the wounded had been brought to the capital Asmara for treatment.
