KARACHI - President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday said that the horse-trading was against the spirit of Charter of Democracy (CoD), adding that PPP would sit on the opposition benches in Punjab and play its due role under the democratic norms. If Punjab cabinet is dissolved or PPP ministers are removed from it, in both the cases the PPP will play its role as opposition and will not allow any damage to the democratic system, he said. This he said while chairing an emergent meeting of PPPs core committee Sindh chapter in the presidential camp Bilawal House here on Sunday. President Zardari reached Karachi on Sunday morning after completing his two-day visit to Kuwait. The President deplored Chhanga Manga-like politics of horse-trading and said that PPP had started politics of reconciliation and would continue it in the future. He said that Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif had signed CoD so that they could do away with the politics of revenge and horse-trading and floor crossing but unfortunately our friends were preferring 'Lotacracy over the peoples mandate. He said that undemocratic method should not be adopted and the PPP would not support it because it believed in clean politic. He, once again, reiterated his partys resolve to take along all the political forces with a view to strength the democracy. Sindh Minister for Katchi Abadis Rafique Engineer told the media that the meeting reviewed the development work and rehabilitation processes of flood affectees. He said that the President expressed his annoyance over the slow pace of reconstruction and repair work of dykes/ bunds, which were damaged during the floods. Sindh Minister for Food Mir Nadir Khan Magsi expressed reservations over the repair work of Aqil Agani Bund Larkana after which the President sought the reports from irrigation experts. The President was briefed that development projects were not completed due to paucity of funds. However, IMF had released 250 million dollars, which would be spent of development projects on the priority basis. The policy for admission in Lyari Medical University has been finalised and pre-entry test would be held within next 15 days and admission would be started from the 5th of September. President Zardari has directed that NoCs should be issued to Katchi Abadis located on KPT, Pakistan Railways and on other federal government departments lands. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Senior Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah, Katchi Abadis Minister Rafique Engineer, President PPP Karachi Division Najmi Alam, Rashid Rabbani and Qadir Patel attended the meeting. Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and Local Bodies Minister Agha Siraj Durrani were out of the city. Later Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Senator Raza Rabbani briefed the President on the political situation. Sources said that President Zardari was likely to ask Governor Punjab Latif Khosa to accept the summary sent by Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif for dissolution of the Punjab cabinet. Sources in the PPP said that changes in the Sindh cabinet were expected and the President would take final decision during his stay in the city.
