LAHORE - Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa Sunday said that PPP will not destabilise Punjab government, but he will have to exercise his constitutional powers if an unconstitutional step was taken in the province. Addressing a public gathering at Kasur after inauguration of gas supply to Khaddian, a small town in that district, he expressed his dismay over PML-Ns patronage of forward bloc in Punjab Assembly and said that relevant article in the Constitution regarding floor crossing was very much clear. The governor said that he still believed in politics of reconciliation, but his constitutional and democratic approach should not be considered as his weakness. He said PPP leaders wanted to live in history, but others perhaps dont seem to have learnt any lesson from the past. He said, People have given us the mandate to rule for five years and the government will complete its constitutional tenure. Khosa said PPP was prepared for the next general elections and will come to power again if the angels (an implicit reference to rigging) did not caste votes in favour of its opponents. He said his party had a very strong backing in all the four provinces. Khosa said that after assuming the office of governor, he expressed his desire to work together with all political parties in continuation of Mohtarma Benazir Bhuttos reconciliation policy. He said countrys future lay in democracy and his party will ensure its protection at any cost by defeating the undemocratic forces. He said history will not forget those who had harmed the democratic system.
